Greetings!
February is all about putting together the content for the Sandwich Guidebook. Don't forget what a great benefit the membership directory is in that book, listing members by category with contact information. So if you haven't kept your membership current, the deadline to be sure you are listed in those 60,000 books is the end of February!
Ad sales close in March so if you want to highlight your business with impact, you can download the form here. Visitors traffic to the Welcome Center was up 9.3% in 2011 from the previous year. Website stats show the greatest number are searching for where to eat in Sandwich 1st and where to stay 2nd. Consumers are using the Chamber by the thousands for referrals - we'd be happy to talk to you in-depth about using us as an important part of your advertising and marketing plan! A full list of Chamber sponsorships and ad opportunities for the entire year is available here.
Please take the time to have a look at the entire newsletter - there are lots of events in February and March which may be of benefit to your business.
Sincerely, Kate Bavelock Executive Director |

Heritage Museums & Gardens and the Cape Cod Five Charitable Foundation Trust Award Scholarships to Local Schools
Do you remember your first museum visit? Many of us experienced a museum for the first time while on a school field trip. Unfortunately, fewer children today are able to participate in field trips as financial pressures force schools to eliminate them.
Heritage Museums & Gardens and The Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank Charitable Foundation Trust are pleased to announce the continuation of this program established to expose more students across Cape Cod to museum learning experiences by eliminating the burden of field trip funding for schools. Classrooms across Cape Cod were invited this fall to apply for the opportunity to visit Heritage to participate in one of many educational experiences on a range of topics. Each program is accompanied by information and activities designed to connect the museum program to classroom curriculum.
"We are so proud to be able to offer this scholarship to students all across the Cape, and to have a partner like the Cape Cod Five Charitable Foundation Trust onboard to help present the cultural and life experiences that trips to Heritage can teach our youth is truly something special," said Heritage Museums & Gardens Executive Director, Ellen Spear. _____________________________________

Did you know that the Sandwich Professional Firefighters Local 2196 has always contributed to victims of catastrophic incidents in Sandwich, including keeping several union checks in the fire command vehicle with authorization to write a check on the spot for the victims for immediate needs?
For 2012, the Sandwich Chamber seeks to further expand that aid to a neighbor facing a significant disaster by gathering donations of products and gift cards available to the families affected. As the number of annual incidents are low, the donation would be small for something which has a tremendous impact.
The Sandwich Chamber will coordinate the collection of gift cards and monetary donations and the Fire Department Liaison will report when a distribution takes place.
Gift cards most needed:
- Food and Grocery Stores
- Gasoline Stations
- Hardware Stores
- Clothing Stores
- Banks
- Restaurants
- Business and Tax Preparation Services
- Auto Mechanic and Car Service
- Food Vendors
- Other
Fire Inspector JJ Burke will attend the February Business After Hours to talk more about the program and answer questions.
