Be a Santa to a Senior Brightens Holidays for Financially-Challenged Cape Elders

For the seventh year, 'Be a Santa to a Senior', a community service from Cape Cod's Home Instead Senior Care, will help bring holiday fun to senior citizens while providing them with much-needed items. It is a partnership between Cape Cod Councils on Aging and community participants: Cape Cod Beer in Hyannis, Eastern Banks in Hyannis, Teaticket, Marstons Mills and Sandwich, the Oyster Island Emporium in Osterville and the senior living communities of Mayflower Place in West Yarmouth, Thirwood Place in South Yarmouth, and Decatur House in Sandwich. Trees will be up at the aforementioned hosts from November 8th until December 9th.

Cape Cod Councils on Aging provide Home Instead Senior Care with the first names of lonely or financially challenged older adults in our community, with gift ideas for each senior. The above-named merchants and senior living communities host a Christmas tree and poster in their lobby from November 8th to December 9th.  The senior's first name and gift idea is printed on an ornament and hung on the Christmas tree. Residents or customers pull an ornament from the tree, purchase a gift from the ideas listed and return the ornament and the item in a holiday gift bag to the tree.

Home Instead Senior Care staff collects the gifts until December 9th, 2011.  For information on exact tree locations go to: http://www.beasantatoasenior.org

Splash Stationer's Has Moved! It's official, Rose Provencher is ready to welcome customers to her new location at 126 Route 6A. The larger space and parking will be a treat for her fans/customers.  Look for a grand reopening party in January after the holiday rush.
