2011

The staff and the Board of Directors at the Sandwich Chamber would like to extend our warmest wishes to our members and friends for a wonderful holiday and prosperous year in 2011.

The support of the community for the Chamber's work in 2010 has been truly heart-warming.  From the new landscaping at the Visitors Center to another successful Holly Days program, it has been another great year in the Chamber's growth as an organization.  Because of this community support, we continue to expand our programs and capabilities to strenghten Sandwich businesses and promote a healthy local economy.

Happy Holidays and

Best Wishes for the New Year!

         SANDWICH BUSINESSES GO GREEN

 Cape & Islands Green

The Sandwich Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce and Hyannis Chamber of Commerce, had a great first year in the Green Business Recognition Program. The program is a step-by-step program to help businesses meet environmental goals by providing comprehensive workshops detailing the requirements of earning the green designation. Topics discussed are recycling, lighting sensors, the purchase of renewable energy credits, and telecommuting options.

Sandwich Agway, Cape Cod Five Bank, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Cape Cod, and Alive With Water have all received level 1 designation and will be recognized in a ceremony to be held in February. These businesses attended a workshop that outlined the process and included an action checklist. Once participants completed the checklist and provided supporting documentation, they were designated as Level 1. The next Level 1 workshop will be held January 12, for detailed information please go to www.capeandislandsgreen.org.

The Community Bank dresses casual for a cause:

The Community Bank is proud to announce that its employees have begun a "Blue Jeans for a Cause" program as a way to raise critical funds for local food pantries this winter.   Since getting started in November, the Bank employees have raised $530 so far, to be matched by the Corporate office to ensure a minimum donation of $2,000 by the new year.  The funds will be donated to the Charity Guild Food Pantry in Brockton and to the Sandwich Food Pantry on Cape Cod.

"Our employees are having a lot of fun with this fundraiser," said Jane Callahan, VP of Human Resources at The Community Bank."  It provides them with a way to give back to our community, while having a little fun at work at the same time.  Employees contribute $5 each on Fridays in order to be eligible to wear jeans at work.  The Bank will match that with a corporate donation to ensure that the amount we raise has a significant impact on people in need."

The Community Bank is also helping local food pantries by serving as a drop point for non-perishable food items during the winter months.   Reflective of one of its core values, employees of The Community Bank are actively involved in many charitable organizations and causes in the community.  The bank, founded in 1877 and headquartered in Brockton, has 8 offices located in Brockton, Bridgewater, Lakeville, Sandwich, Falmouth and Hyannis.
