Living Life Well! SHANTI CONSULTING NEWSLETTER
March 2009

Greetings!

A lot of talk going around on health, right? Eat this, don't eat that....blah blah blah

We don't need another report to tell us to exercise and eat well. A simple rule of thumb is that when you are hungry, stick to fruits and vegetables to fill you up until mealtime.

Exercise appropriately for your health and age requirements. Consult an expert atleast once in your life to get the straight info on what you need to stay healthy. It all depends on whether you are training for the Olympics or just want to live a normal, healthy life and have some fun on weekends.

Generally you do need a good mix of cardio, strength training and flexibility training. Make sure you have all three elements in your program.

If you know someone who wants to get their fitness program into gear, then Shanti Consulting has gift certificates for 1, 2 or 3 sessions.

Do you know a friend who has a major birthday or special day coming up? Ask them if they would like stress reduction sessions, or toning sessions.

Trans Fats and more blah blah blah

There is way too much talk about trans fats for public consumption.

We are not training to be the world's best whatever. We just want to live our life in a relatively fit manner. Look good and feel great and have some fun.

If you fall into this group, then take my advice and ignore package labelling on trans fats. Really. Just make sure that everything you eat is low in fat. How? Read on!

Take the total amount of fat per serving in grams. Multiply by 30. If this number is less than the total calories per serving, then the product is low in fat. That's it.

By getting conned into the trans fats, saturated fats, and monounsaturated fats game, too many people are not eating properly. I see clients buying chip bags and eating them because they are labelled as 0 trans fats. NOOOOOOOOO! They still have calories and most of those calories come from fat.

Look, just eat healthy for 80% percent of your week. Unless you are trying to drop weight. In that case, you have to be strict until the weight comes off and then do the 80/20 thing!
