Summer 2010 Tradeshow Round-Up | PCBC, San Francisco San Francisco
always serves as a perfect host for the annual Pacific Coast Builders
Conference. As
the west coast continues to represent one of the largest and fastest
growing housing
markets, it set the scene for confidence and ambition among exhibitors
and
attendees of the show. Throughout the
event, I - along with a few members of our public relations team - continually heard people talking genuinely about the market and
its
outlook. It sounds like across the board there are more real jobs and
shovel-ready projects. There were fewer "tire kickers"
than we
may have seen in the past, and a mutual mindset was: Expired tax credit notwithstanding...we're ready to go! Energy conservation was top of
mind for most everyone at the show, as well as a renewed enthusiasm for outdoor living. Read more about a few companies that stood out among the rest.

AIA Expo, Miami
|
While PCBC was
going on in San Francisco, the K&A team on the east coast was enduring the Miami heat for a look into the
architectural side of home building. AIA Expo 2010,
a convention hosted by the American Institute of Architects, catered
largely to the architect and architectural student (as would be suspected),
showcasing the latest in design technologies, functionality and sustainable
trends.
While heavy in seminars and classes aimed at continuing
education, AIA featured more than 800 exhibitors on the showroom floor, ranging
from the latest illustration tools and technologies to tiles and countertops. Read on for more about the show, as well as one of its prominent trends: functional design.

NeoCon World's Trade Fair, Chicago
| |
For three
days, the historic Chicago Merchandise Mart was host to the 42nd annual NeoCon
World's Trade Fair - the largest exhibition of contract furnishings in North
America.
Architects, interior designers and design enthusiasts flocked the 700 showrooms
canvassing for the latest design trends in commercial/residential interiors,
new products, exhibitors, educational resources, and most of all, to network
and engage with working professionals across all design industries.
