COME join the CONVERSATIONS |
Greetings!
Join us as we begin a series of Community Conversations in Ottawa and Muskegon counties with author and consultant Peter Block March 12th, 5:00 - 8:30 pm
@ Resurrection Life Church, Grand Haven.
Known for his work in The Abundant Community and Community: The Structure of Belonging, "Block helps us see how we can change the existing context of community from one of deficiencies, interests, and entitlement to one of possibility, generosity, and gifts."
This workshop will inspire authentic conversation, bring to light the gifts in every individual, and challenge us to create new community possibilities. We welcome and affirm people of all ages, races, shapes, sizes, nationalities, economic levels, sexualities and abilities. This event is barrier free and special accomodations will be provided if requested in advance.
Tell your friends, bring your neighbors, and register here . |

Care Closets are similar to food pantries but provide personal care items for baby, bath, kitchen, and cleaning - products normally not covered by food stamps. GSM provides intake screening for over 1500 requests each year then schedules distribution at the five local church Care Closets.
Debora Byrd and her husband both have disabilities and limited income. Having occassional access to the Care Closets helps stretch their dollars.
"The Care Closets help us a lot. My husband and I moved to be closer to our kids and grandkids. We love the community feeling in the area," shares Debora. "Through this we also found people to help us move- what a blessing."
BIG THANKS go out to the churches and volunteers with helping hands and open hearts in these community Care Closets. You ROCK!

Consider volunteering or sharing a monthly donation to help sustain these programs for those in our community struggling financially. |
