Special Education Ministry (SEM) was founded in 1968 by a small group of parents of adult children with developmental disabilities as a Bible study program. Beginning with a handful of students and mentors, SEM has grown to include 62 students and 56 mentors using the worldwide "Friendship Series" as their curriculum. Special Education Ministry is a non-profit, interdenominational organization with financial support coming from area churches, charitable and private donations in and around Holland.
