Next Monday: Have Fun At Our Burger Bash!

It's time once again for the DCDP's Annual Burger Bash. The fun will begin at 6 PM on next Monday, April 11, at the party office, 4209 Parry at Fletcher, in Dallas. We'll have plenty of regular and veggie burgers with all the fixin's. This is a great way to meet fellow Democrats, elected officials and candidates. A $10.00 donation per person is requested to help defray costs. To RSVP (so we'll have an idea how much food we need for you all), please send an email to phyllis AT dallasdemocrats.org or call the Party office at 214.821.8331 by April 8, 2011.
Republicans vs. Texas Schools

Texas State House Republicans voted down a Democratic plan to fully fund our public schools until 2013. Read grim details at this page.
Personal Reflection - Geraldine Ferraro
Darlene Ewing, DCDP County Chair

Last week, a personal icon of mine died - Geraldine Ferraro. She died too soon, but left a lasting legacy and it was not just that she was the first female candidate for Vice President of a major political party. She fought for me long before she joined the Mondale ticket. ...(Read the rest at this page.)
Dallas Mayoral Forums

Two forums for the four candidates for Mayor of Dallas will be sponsored by Democratic clubs this month. The Lake Highlands White Rock Democrats will be hosting one on Saturday, April 16 (including candidates for three council districts as well), and several groups will host together another on Thursday, April 28. See the Upcoming Events below for details on both of these. Two other Democratic groups had already hosted others.

For those who have wondered, since city and school board elections in Texas are officially "non-partisan", the Dallas County Democratic Party has not and will not endorse any candidates for Mayor or Council in these elections. Some individual Democratic clubs may do so for the benefit of their own members, such as the Stonewall Democrats and the Dallas County Young Democrats have done in some years.
What Lessons Did We Learn From The Election?

The DCDP wants your opinions, ideas, and suggestions for improving the probability for success in our 2012 General Election.

The party has a tradition of doing a "lessons learned" process at the end of each election cycle to determine what worked well and where are our opportunities for improvement. We consider negative or positive results from actions we took in that election cycle. The DCDP now invites you to help us with this process.

Tell us about what you liked, what you did not like and/or ideas for making what you liked even better. Send Phyllis Grover your emails to phyllis AT dallasdemocrats.org, no later than 4-19-11. Read more about helping in this process at this page. Thank you for your help and participation.
