This Saturday April 2: Precinct Chair Training 101

Precinct Chair 101 training is being offered on Saturday, April 2. This training covers the basics of creating your core group of workers, working on getting to know your precinct and getting out the vote - your most important job!

Come at 8:30 AM for coffee and sign-in. Class starts promptly at 9 and will end no later than noon. We are holding this training at the party offices at 4209 Parry. All materials provided. This class is necessary for new precinct chairs and activists while also being a great refresher for those have been working a precinct for years. The party keeps a record of those who attend this class, with the intention that all precinct chairs, new and old, will have taken this class. We will be offering other classes during the year, but this basic one is a prerequisite.

We suggest that you bring one or more of your core group of helpers to take this class, so there will be several of you in your precinct who know what needs to be done. With such an important election coming up next year - it is not to early to get to work. Remember that for county offices, the primary may be the most important election next year.

You will also have a chance to sign up to get your Precinct Chair business cards ($ 20 ), if you don't already have them, and for sustaining membership (minimum $10 a month or one time $120), so please bring a checkbook.

There is limited seating, so please respond by email to phyllis AT dallasdemocrats.org with the names of people coming from your precinct and precinct number. If we get this a week in advance, we will have information for you specific to your precinct. Dress is casual.

Fifth Annual Jefferson Jackson Dinner April 27

The Jefferson Jackson Dinner is the major annual fundraising event of the Dallas County Democratic Party. The Fifth Annual Jefferson Jackson Dinner will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at the Dallas Arboretum, 8525 Garland Road, Dallas, Texas 75218. The dinner is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Rosine Hall. A VIP reception for sponsors will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Alex Camp House on the grounds.

Washington journalist Eleanor Clift, a Newsweek contributing editor and regular panelist on the McLaughlin Group, will give the keynote address. She plans to discuss U.S. policy in the Middle East in the wake of dramatic uprisings in Egypt, Libya and throughout the region.

Help Us With Lessons Learned From The Election

The DCDP wants your opinions, ideas, and suggestions for improving the probability for success in our 2012 General Election.

The party has a tradition of doing a "lessons learned" process at the end of each election cycle to determine what worked well and where are our opportunities for improvement. We consider negative or positive results from actions we took in that election cycle. The DCDP now invites you to help us with this process.

Tell us about what you liked, what you did not like and/or ideas for making what you liked even better. Send Phyllis Grover your emails to phyllis AT dallasdemocrats.org, no later than 4-19-11. Comment on as many phases, programs, tasks, actions, etc. as you wish. Please separate each subject into individual emails or letters. In your subject line, write "Lessons Learned (specify your subject)."

Be as thorough as you wish. We need to know the action and whether the result was negative or positive. If negative, you may suggest a resolution, or a work-around. The more detail (who, what, when, where, how) the better for analysis.

Your comments and suggestions will be forwarded to the Strategic Planning Committee for referral, analysis and organization. Relevant committees and the Advisory Council will review the items and act appropriately. A report will be made to the DCDP Executive Committee in the 2011 3rd Quarter about the disposition of your contributions to the process. Thank you for your help and participation.
