Next Saturday April 2: Precinct Chair Training 101

Precinct Chair 101 training is being offered on Saturday, April 2. This training covers the basics of creating your core group of workers, working on getting to know your precinct and getting out the vote - your most important job!

Come at 8:30 AM for coffee and sign-in. Class starts promptly at 9 and will end no later than noon. We are holding this training at the party offices at 4209 Parry. All materials provided. This class is necessary for new precinct chairs and activists while also being a great refresher for those have been working a precinct for years. The party keeps a record of those who attend this class, with the intention that all precinct chairs, new and old, will have taken this class. We will be offering other classes during the year, but this basic one is a prerequisite.

We suggest that you bring one or more of your core group of helpers to take this class, so there will be several of you in your precinct who know what needs to be done. With such an important election coming up next year - it is not to early to get to work. Remember that for county offices, the primary may be the most important election next year.

You will also have a chance to sign up to get your Precinct Chair business cards ($ 20 ), if you don't already have them, and for sustaining membership (minimum $10 a month or one time $120), so please bring a checkbook.

There is limited seating, so please respond by email to phyllis AT dallasdemocrats.org with the names of people coming from your precinct and precinct number. If we get this a week in advance, we will have information for you specific to your precinct. Dress is casual.

Fifth Annual Jefferson Jackson Dinner
  Sponsorships Now Available

The Jefferson Jackson Dinner is the major annual fundraising event of the Dallas County Democratic Party. The Fifth Annual Jefferson Jackson Dinner will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at the Dallas Arboretum, 8525 Garland Road, Dallas, Texas 75218. The dinner is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Rosine Hall. A VIP reception for sponsors will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Alex Camp House on the grounds.

Washington journalist Eleanor Clift, a Newsweek contributing editor and regular panelist on the McLaughlin Group, will give the keynote address. Clift currently covers the jockeying over policy and politics in a divided Congress where two parties share power and President Obama must navigate carefully. She plans to discuss U.S. policy in the Middle East in the wake of dramatic uprisings in Egypt, Libya and throughout the region.

As Dallas' premiere political event, the Jefferson Jackson Dinner is an ideal promotional and networking opportunity for businesses and professionals. Each year, this event is attended by hundreds of citizens, attorneys, party members and boosters, elected officials and members of the judiciary. Call 214-544-0381 or email to jjdinner AT dallasdemocrats.org to inquire about sponsorship packages.
