Treasure Hunt At This Saturday's Megawalk
 

This is a walk supporting all Democratic candidates, in partnership with OFA, the Rep. Kirk England Campaign and the Dr. Elba Garcia Campaign. Hidden treasure in the form of $100 gift credit cards will be waiting for 5 lucky walkers at 5 secret homes sprinkled throughout the targeted precincts. Who will find the treasure knocking on doors?

Volunteers will work in pairs, and walks are short and easy to complete. DCDP and OFA will provide complete training and supplies, including water and light refreshments.

Monday: DDF Presents Jeff Weems, RR Comm Candidate
 

On Monday, September 20, the Dallas Democratic Forum will present Jeff Weems, Democratic nominee for Texas Railroad Commission, speaking at the Forum's luncheon on "A New Vision for Oil and Gas Oversight: Critical Issues in North Texas". Jeff Weems is unique: an energy insider who knows the oil and natural gas industry and cares about the consumer. He has worked on oil rigs, as a drilling mud representative, and as a landman, and is now a partner in a law firm in Houston, where he has also been a Democratic Precinct Chair.

Monday: Important Redistricting Meeting
 

Next year new district lines will be drawn for legislative and other districts in Texas, and the process has already begun. On Monday, September 20, at noon in the Central Jury Room of the George Allen Courthouse building, 600 Commerce St. in downtown Dallas, there will be a joint public hearing on the issue. This will be before a combined panel of the House Committee on Redistricting, the House Committee on Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence and the Senate Select Committee on Redistricting. The Dallas hearing is one of several scheduled to take place across the state. Legislators from throughout Texas will take part in these hearings. For more information, please call (214)467-0123.
