Part II: Are We Reaching Our Limit?

By Lauren Tomory

In addition to new breakthroughs in research with regard to the importance of periodization, supercompensation, and other training theories, a recent addition to the coaching world is new research on concurrent training. This kind of training integrates aerobic work with resistance training in the same session. Concurrent training basically hits at the core idea of building strength and endurance simultaneously.  More Info . . .

Athlete of the Month

Carl FudgeName: Carl Fudge

Coach: Amy Kloner

Accomplishment: Carl is a busy consultant living in the Washington, DC area.  A triathlete for several years, Carl had never had any direction or specific guidance to structure his training. He approached coach Amy Kloner for some help and guidance just three months ago, and his commitment to his training, attention to detail, positive attitude, and resulting progress in this short amount of time has been phenomenal.

Perhaps as a result of his chosen career path, Carl takes great care to break down the process and understand each part of his training. By doing so, he truly takes ownership of everything he does, is able to set realistic, attainable goals, and has precision-like attention to detail when trying to hit them.  In the past three months, Carl has raced two olympic distance races and one 70.3, achieving PRs in all three events.  He takes great care to thoroughly review each effort and identify areas for improvement, and then addresses them! Carl's dedication to his training, commitment to the process, and positive attitude have helped him achieve success thus far, and we are proud to partner with him in this journey! Congratulations, Carl!
