Dear Members of AUSCP,
Apologies, dear brothers, for not contacting you more regularly as you deserve. As Newsletter editor, I have been trying to do an Assembly Review of the many great things that happened at St. Leo's in Florida. Being a pastor, I find that an overwhelming task, so we are trying to find volunteer help. If you want to step up, contact me, frbobcushing@hotmail.com.
A few have commented that with no word from the Leadership Team, you assumed nothing was going on. Actually it is just the opposite: with so much going on, it is almost impossible to keep up with it, and insufficient time to get word out. Most of the guys on the board had to get some rest. Some have tried to take time off, but to little avail because we meet almost weekly and it is difficult just to keep up with all the e-mail correspondence.
So here are a few photos and news bytes that we will try to put out more frequently as a BULLETIN so that you at least know that we are alive and kicking.
Cheers,
Bob Cushing, editor
We reached $20,000 in donations!
We did it! We reached our goal! Our Chairman, Dave Cooper, has called the anonymous donor who is sending the check for the matching $20,000. Special thanks for all those who participated in this drive will be going out in the next NEWSLETTER.
The Second National Assembly is set for Seattle!
Save the date and mark your calendars for an exciting week in Seattle, Washington, June 24-28 , 2013. Seattle University will be hosting us as we meet to celebrate Vatican II with our focus on Lumen Gentium.
The AUSCP Board is hustling to find talented speakers to join us and lift us up for the tasks of this critical time in our ecclesial history.
Your leadership team, or AUSCP Board, meets most Tuesday afternoons now on Skype to catch up with what is happening across the nation with development of AUSCP support groups and how best to bridge the impasse and get beyond a "dialogue of the deaf," to support the vision of Vatican II.
Tuesday, August 14, we met and tried to discern keynote speakers for the 2013 Seattle Assembly. We know we want Catherine Clifford to speak but how should she focus on Lumen Gentium? Then we are narrowing the options for the 2014 Assembly, strongly favoring St. Louis, where we will focus on Dei Verbum, and finally on Gaudium et Spes somewhere in 2015.
We planned AUSCP Board meeting dates for the next month: August 28, September 4 and 25. Then our Skype session was abruptly cut off by a power outage. Stay tuned...!
