New, Improved Online Ticket System
May saw the much anticipated launch of Phase II of the Online Ticket System (OTS) for Kids Up Front Vancouver. This custom, state-of-the-art system allows donors to donate tickets online, partner agencies to request tickets online, and Kids Up Front to allocate tickets online. Phase II introduces improved functionality and advanced features. Kids Up Front is grateful to the ongoing support of Koji Sato of Intellect Solutions for donating thousands of volunteer hours to the development of the OTS. "Thank you so much for giving kids a chance to take part in activities that they otherwise would be deprived. Thank you for thinking about the kids because they are our future. Thank you for putting a smile on their faces. It is a really nice human gesture."

Inspired Leaders
 | |
For a kid to go to a professional game of the team that you watch pretty much your whole life growing up, and you get to see your heroes play, it inspired me to get to the level I'm at right now. ~ BC Lions slotback Geroy Simon as part of Kids Up Front's Inspired Leaders Campaign (Metro News, June 8/12).

Canadian Olympic Soccer Players Help Disadvantaged Kids
Before leaving for London to compete in the Olympics, Lauren Sesselmann and Desiree Scott, members of Canada's national women's soccer team, were at the Kids Up Front booth at Richmond Centre Mall on Sunday, May 20th. Lauren and Desiree signed autographs and were available for photos to share their enthusiasm for Kids Up Front and the need to help disadvantaged kids attend sporting and cultural events through ticket donations.

Olympians Lauren Sesselmann (left) and Desiree Scott (right) participated in Kids Up Front's new Community Outreach Campaign, launched in May, which takes a team of volunteers into shopping centres and other community events this summer. Star Volunteer
What do you do at Kids Up Front?
I work in the area of community outreach, specifically gathering groups of keen volunteers to spread our message at various public venues, including shopping malls.
Why do you volunteer?
I enjoy being part of a team, using my past work/life experiences to hopefully make a difference in the lives of the individuals our agency serves.
What do you do when you are not volunteering?
I have a busy home life with 3 young adult kids, 3 cats, and 2 nutty Scottie dogs (and 1 patient husband!).. maybe some travel, dinner with friends, and a good book.
