Kids Helping Kids

At just 8 years old, Josh Durnan is already setting a great example for giving back to his community. For the second year in a row, Josh donated funds raised at his birthday party to Kids Up Front. This year, Josh raised $140 to send 28 children to fun events they otherwise would not get to enjoy. Thank you Josh!

What do you do at Kids Up Front?

I joined the committee last year to participate in the 19th hOle fundraising event. The day to day workload at the Kids Up Front office can be fast-paced to ensure the kids receive tickets and opportunities and I am available to take on tasks to assist office operations or upcoming events.

Why do you volunteer?

I enjoy giving my time back to the community. I have been able to share in Vancouver's cultural, artistic, and sporting events with my own children and I feel it is every child's right to enjoy these opportunities in the community they live in.

What do you do when you are not volunteering?

When I am not volunteering with Kids Up Front I do have other organizations I like to be involved in. I volunteer for the One to One Literacy program in the elementary schools in Vancouver and I help organize a regular community lunch. I keep myself fit through exercise, yoga, and walking my dog. I travel, spend time with friends/family, and attend the same kinds of events I want the kids to attend.
