VOLUME 3, ISSUE 30                                                            April 20, 2012

From Our Superintendent, Merida Brooks

At the moment I have all I need-and more! I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me...They are a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God. And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:18-19 NLT

In this issue, we don't want you to miss Veteran, Josh Mayers (and Westminster parent) giving a moving testimony and presentation at the 2012 Academic Pep Rally.  Mr. Mayers was a soldier in Afghanistan last year when 27 boxes from WCA were delivered to him over the course of 3 days providing he and his fellow soldiers much needed supplies. This shipment even provided enough surplus to restock the chaplain's shelves and answered a desperate plea to Father God for provision.

Also included in this video is some footage of WCA students packing more than 460 boxes this year to send to soldiers in need of our support, love and prayers! This project could not have been accomplished without the financial support of our many donors to pay for shipping, the efforts of our dedicated students (of all ages who pray for our soldiers, donated items, packed boxes and more) and the support and motivation of Mr. Stuart Salling, a treasured WCA teacher.

What a gift that we can hear first hand how God continues to use Westminster Christian Academy to accomplish his worldwide, eternal, kingdom work!  Please take the time to watch this video.  It is just 15 minutes, and you will be blessed.

His!

Crusader Mission Team On Mission!
New Orleans

Mission Team NO 2A message from Mr. Gladding...
"On Thursday, April 5th, a combined group of Middle and High School Mission Team members went to New Orleans to serve the people in that area with Youth with a Mission (YWAM). The students participated in a variety of ministries. Friday morning, they worked renovating a house. Students swung sledgehammers to break old pieces of the leftover foundation, pulled nails out of boards so the wood could be reused, and carted wheelbarrows to the dumpster to help clear out the area. There were sunburns and blisters, but otherwise, everyone came out uninjured and pleased with the work they had done. Friday afternoon, we went to the projects of Algiers Point and played with the local children. As you can see from the pictures, the neighborhood kids had their favorites! On Saturday, YWAM took our students on a tour of the 9th Ward, giving us some perspective on how richly we are blessed by God and how much work there is for His people to do, even in our own state. After the tour, we put together 480 lunches with hotdogs and bottles of water, and put them into paper bags. We took these lunches to an area near the New Orleans Mission and fed the homeless. Students were able to pray with people and witness to those who needed hope. We brought the remaining food to a shelter in downtown New Orleans. After lunch, we went back to work with the kids in Algiers Point. Many of our students were able to tell the Easter story to the kids and pray with them as well. While we pray God uses our work to bless the people to whom we ministered, we know that God used this trip to bless us and show us His goodness and the power and Hope of His Word. Thank you to everyone who partnered with us and prayed for us. God answered your prayers!"

Opelousas Campus - April 5, 2012

The Opelousas Campus 6th Grade Students visited the Houston Museum of Natural Science and the Holocaust Museum on a recent field trip.  A tremendous amount of gratitude is extended to Mrs. Teri Cober, the homeroom mother chairman for her effort in planning the event.  The students enjoyed this excursion greatly.  Not pictured are the treasured teachers who accompanied our students: Eryn Hjelle, JoAnne Standiford, and Wade Credeur.   Also pictured is Abigail Smith on a rotational fun ride that simulates weightlessness.
