VOLUME 3, ISSUE 28                                                            March 30, 2012

From Our Superintendent, Merida Brooks

This is the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes.

Psalm 118:23

Thank you for praying for us and for the ACSI Visiting Team!

Our visitors have come, saturated our campuses with their presence and their questions, and are now gone. They poured over reams of information and documentation, visited in every classroom and met with every administrator and leader in the school. As a result, the most repeated comment and observation was the evident presence of Jesus in the lives of the people associated with WCA.   The relationship between the students and the teachers as they related in the classrooms was a tremdous blessing to the team. Again, the Living Stones of WCA continue to be our greatest strength and the hallmark of a Westminster education.

We will receive an official report outlining specific commendations and recommendations. The recommendations will be addressed over the next seven years until they return. We are grateful for sincere encouragement and specific challenge in order to move Westminster forward academically, technologically, and in our co-curricular programs while maintaining our clear spiritual priority.

Thank you for being a part of the Westminster Family!

His!

Julie Emerson, WCA Class of 2006,  Wins RSCC Race

"I am very honored and humbled to be the new Republican State Central Committee member from District 39-A. Most people are now probably wondering exactly what that is...don't worry, you are not alone. Each state party in every state has a State Central Committee that is the governing body of that state party. The body meets four times per year and votes on party platform, party rules, and will make decisions including, but not limited to, the process for presidential primaries, the process for electing delegates to state and national conventions, and the electing of party officials such as chairman and vice chairman. I have been a frequent attendee of these meetings for the past few years, but I am now very excited to be able to have a vote on the committee." Julie Emerson

Congratulations Julie, Class of 2006!

As the new spring weather has caused the flowers and trees on our campuses to show off their new growth, the nice weather shows off our growing students as well!

The students on the Calvary Campus recently enjoyed some special time outside. They started with snack then went on to play for recess. Mrs. Myers brought out a kite for the students to take turns flying while Mrs. Accardo had trucks for them to play with.  Following their regular snack and recess time, Mrs. Meyers and Mrs. Accardo provided for kite flying and play with trucks!

The Lafayette Campus K3 and K4 students celebrated their annual "Under the Big Top" event Friday, March 23rd. Parents arrived early to set up and help make each event and booth run smoothly. Students experienced face painting, a train ride, picture booth, bubbles, petting zoo, balloon-making and an obstacle course throughout the morning.  Hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy and special music were also provided to complete the multi-sensory, carnival experience.  Parents were invited to participate in the picnic lunch under the "big" tent and enjoyed a special performance from each class featuring poems, songs, Scriptures, lion taming and tight rope sparklers!  After encouraging words from Mrs. Bell,  a blessing was spoken over the families by Mr. Stewart.  To top off the event,  a special treat of snow cones was donated by the Gafford family's "Papa Sneaux's."  Many thanks to all who donated time and resources to help make this a special memory for our precious preschoolers.

For those of you who began after the final superintendents meeting for 2011-2012, two dates have been put on the calendar for these meetings. Please register for either in order to be eligible for the start of the 2012-2013 school year.  You can register at www.wcala.org/news-and-events.
