VOLUME 3, ISSUE 26                                                            March 16, 2012

From Our Superintendent, Merida Brooks

Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me. Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? To what were its foundations fastened?   Or who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Who has divided a channel for the overflowing water, or a path for the thunderbolt...

Job 38:2-7, 25

Fish from the floodMuch praise and thanksgiving has gone to our Father for His divine protection over our Westminster Campuses this past Monday. There were at least three lightning strikes at the Opelousas campus and Father God protected us from each one! We were also able to catch some fish! Due to the overflowing ponds around the Opelousas campus, fish were literally in the water flowing through the campus!

We also want to express our gratitude to all of our parents and students who responded quickly to needed adjustments for our buses and car pool dismissal. Thank you for considering one another as the Opelousas traffic entered and exited using Providence Lane. The road is narrow and the water on Miller offered some challenges as well.

Some of our WCA families, and two of our staff, did get water into their homes. Please keep them in your prayers.

On Monday, March 26 and Tuesday, March 27, a visiting team of eight members from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) will be on the Lafayette and Opelousas campuses for the purposes of re-accredidation. We are anticipating the input that will come from these observers who will look into every aspect of our school. Please pray for them to have "eyes to see" all that there is to see in order for Westminster to be all that Father has called WCA to be.

His!

Coach Salling promotes Soldier Care Package Drive
WCA is conducting a Care Package drive for Louisiana soldiers in Afghanistan. We have adopted two Louisiana units currently serving overseas: The 1022nd Engineer Company and the 1086th Transportation Company.  This is a small way for us to say "thank you" to those who are sacrificing time away from their families, their bodies and even lives for the freedom we love and enjoy. With your help we are going to bless our soldiers in the field!

There are 3 ways you can help:
Click here to find a specific list of 12 items that will be included in each package. To donate one box of materials we are asking for one of each item. We are asking for items to be donated the morning of March 29th.  Donations can be brought to either the Lafayette or Opelousas campuses.

A second area that we will need a lot of assistance is with the shipping cost of the boxes. The cost of shipping one box to Afghanistan is close to $13.00 each. Our goal and expectation is 500-700 boxes. and thus funds to cover the cost of shipping will be a big need. Shipping will be between $6,500-$9,100.  We have already collected $2,400 from willing donors.  If you want to contribute please send a check payable to WCA, attn: Coach Salling.

Click T-shirts to buy a shirt and wear them with a humble sense of pride that WCA SUPPORTS OUR TROOPS.  Order forms due by 03.19.12.

ACT News-Caution!
From the Office of College Advisor, Debbie Johnson

When registering for the ACT, it is important to use your Social Security Number.  That  number that is used to line up the FAFSA (which is the TOPS application), your transcript and your ACT score.  If ACT assigns a number, it can take over a year and a half to get your TOPS application processed.  If this happens, parents will have to pay tuition up front and then be reimbursed once the TOPS application is processed.

WCA baseball is having an exciting year. The team is 4-4 and could very easily be 7-1 if we would of had a couple timely hits. We are 3-1 in extra innings games, which is building a lot of character for the games down the road and 1-0 in district. We start our WCA tournament on Thursday 15 thru Saturday 17.
