From Our Superintendent, Merida Brooks Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, Philipians 2:3
Allow me to share a letter with you I received from a 4th grade Crusader. What a sweet example of a little one thinking more highly of others than herself. My name is Alyssa Rushing. I am a 4th grade student at Westminster Christian Academy. Because of the blessings that I have received, I have chosen to celebrate my 10th birthday party in a very unique way. I have decided to ask my friends and family to donate to my charity instead of purchasing birthday presents for me. My birthday party will be held at LA Ice on March 10th at 2:30 PM located at 3607 NW Evangeline Thwy. in Carencro. The idea came to me after watching a television program that showed someone donating shoes to people in another country. I thought that it would be a terrific idea to do something like that at home. I want to donate to my charity because I feel fortunate that God has given me a family that provides for me. But equally important, I want to try to make life just a little bit easier for some other girls in need. I selected the Acadiana Shelter for Girls as my charity. The shelter cares for girls from the ages of 12-17 and offers a stable home-like environment to aid in the development of the young ladies. It also provides activities within its premises. For more information about my charity, log onto www.thechildrensshelters.org. How can you help you might ask? As the host of my party, LA Ice has graciously offered to donate $2 from each general admission skater during the daytime sessions on Saturday March 10 (the day of my party). Public skate times are from 12-2:50 PM, 3-5:50 PM. I would encourage everyone to come out to enjoy the arena, and help out a great cause. We will also have a donation box located at the event on Saturday for those that don't want to skate, or just would like to do more for my charity. You can also mail a donation to: The Acadiana Shelter for Girls Attn: Vicki Boudreaux P.O. Box 92078 Lafayette, LA 70509
***Note: Please write Alyssa's Birthday Wish in the memo. Include a self addressed stamped envelope if you wish to receive a receipt for your tax deductible donation. This is a tax deductible donation, and someone will be on site at LA Ice on the day of the event to issue proof of donation. 100% of the proceeds of this event will go to The Acadiana Shelter for Girls, specifically for the girls to buy clothing and fashion items.
His!

Kaleb Pope Signs With Louisiana College Thursday, March 1st, 2012 WCA Outside Linebacker, Kaleb Pope, committed to play for Louisiana College in Pineville, LA on Thursday, March 1, 2012. Head Coach, Tommy Badon, had this to say about Pope..."Kaleb has always been a player that did whatever it took to help the team win. He played hard, and had a nose for the football. He made a whole bunch of plays for us in his career and we are excited that he will be able to continue playing at the next level." Congratulations, Pope! |

Due to the LA Open date being changed at our exciting new venue, Le Triomphe, a date change was necessary for our Crusader Golf Scramble. This change improves our event EVEN MORE because the greens will be freshly prepped following that event.
Please join us for our 14th Annual Crusader Golf Scramble on Monday, April 16th, 2012, at Le Triomphe Golf and Country Club in Broussard.
YOUR SUPPORT means so much! The Golf Scramble is one of our annual fund raising events that help support the mission and programs of WCA. Crusader Mission Team Visits Peru
In the words of Mission Team Sponsor, Jon Sonbuchner, "Trying to describe our one-week missionary journey to Peru is about as easy as describing the details in the midst of a tornado. It comes and leaves far too quickly, but unlike the tornado, our whirlwind of activity rather than tearing down, edified the church of God. Our group focused on two regions Lima and Huaraz; at each location AMG has childcare centers that we visited. Read more. |

Lafayette Campus
4th Grade Students from the Lafayette Campus presented their patriotic program, Thursday, March 1, 2012. They performed songs such as "America the Beautiful" and "You're a Grand Old Flag" and drama pieces reflecting serving and talents. The message of the program included the idea that "you should not serve only to be recognized" and "your talents come from God and at all times you should do all things as unto the Lord."
Opelousas Campus The Opelousas Elementary's Third and Fourth Grades, under the direction of Stuart Amidon, presented "Let's Sing, America" for parents and friends on Wednesday, February 29. The program was marked by spirited singing; educational recitations about our flag, the Pledge of Allegiance, the Liberty Bell, the Statute of Liberty, and the bald eagle; and by big smiles of students enjoying their presentations. All ended with student affirmations to "keep the Spirit of America... alive!"

ACT News From the Office of College Advisor, Debbie Johnson
When registering for the ACT, it is important to use your Social Security Number. That is the number that is used to line up the FAFSA (which is the TOPS application), your transcript and your ACT score. If ACT assigns a number, it can take over a year and a half to get your TOPS application processed. If this happens, parents will have to pay tuition then be reimbursed once the TOPS application gets processed.
