WCA's Volleyball Team captured a 25-13, 25-9, 25-17 win over Northside Christian in a Regional round game played here at Crusader Gym on Monday night. The victory propelled the Lady Saders into a Quarterfinal matchup with Houma Christian at 10 a.m. Thursday morning at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner. Again, Crusaders captured a 25-22; 27-25; 27-25 win over Houma Christian!  They are headed to the Semifinals on Friday at 10:00 a.m. against the winners of the Metairie Park Country Day-Ascension Episcopal contest. A spot in the State Finals on Saturday at 11 a.m. awaits the winner of that game. Single Game tickets are $10.00.

footballFor eleven years in a row, Westminster's Football Team struggled against Opelousas Catholic. Even with two close wins the past two years, the Crusaders never managed to play their best against their crosstown rivals. That came to an end last Friday night when the Saders controlled the game from start to finish in a 61-0 victory. Seven different Crusaders scored on the night, including senior Thomas Kemp with three TD's. Kemp rushed for 116 yards, giving him 1010 for the season, a school record for a quarterback. The defense held the Vikings to -6 yards rushing, the third time in district an opponent had negative yards rushing in a game. The win also completed a perfect 7-0 district campaign, the third consecutive undefeated district record for the Saders.

WCA earned a No. 10 seed in the Playoffs with it's 8-2 overall record, which included wins over five Playoff teams. The Crusaders will host St. Mary's of Natchitoches at 7:00 p.m. Friday night at Crusader Stadium in a First Round matchup. St. Mary's is 7-3 on the year, and is a perennial playoff team. Tickets for the game are $8.00. A reminder that chairback season ticket holders have a reserved seat for the game, but must pay the admission price per LHSAA rules. We are expecting a large visitor turnout for the game, so let's show up in large numbers to cheer the Saders into the second round.

Note: There will be a Playoff 2011 Collector's Edition Program for sale at the football game this Friday night.  The cost if $5.00.  There is a limited supply available.

Students Selected for ACSAA Leadership Award
Christian Deville has been selected as the Leadership Award winner for WCA's 5th & 6th Grade Football Team and Ben Bayless has been selected as the Leadership Award winner for WCA's 7th & 8th Grade Football Team by the Acadiana Christian School Athletic Association.

The ACSAA Leadership Award is given to the team's most valuable player. It recognizes much more than achievement on the field. It is given to one player on each team that shows leadership academically, spiritually and athletically.

Students Embrace the Mission

"In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus Himself said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." Acts 20:35

Fourth Grade students on the Lafayette Campus have taken these words spoken by Jesus to heart. They have adopted an Orphanage in Haiti and are busy gathering money and gifts to be sent to over 60 children for Christmas. Gifts are pouring in daily as the children work to earn the money to purchase them. A group of three young ladies put their heads together and decided to hold a bake sale. They spent the Labor Day weekend baking and held the sale at one of their churches. They were able to raise $500! One half of the money was donated to the Orphanage and the other to a water project in Africa.

When the final tally is in, the students will have gathered $3,000 in gifts with money for postage and wrapping paper included. We are discovering the joy and excitement in giving and realizing that we can make a difference in the world, even in fourth grade!
