The article highlights the benefits of the quality programming that A's & Aces brings New Orleans public school children. Darnell Alexander, an Arise student who recently won the national Arthur Ashe Essay Competition, was held up as one of the many success stories:

 

Having Darnell win the essay contest proves the power of A's and Aces for Jihanna Mughnee, a graduate student at LSU Health Sciences Center [and] teacher and coach for the program.

 

"Exposing the kids to tennis, you see the changes in them, the progress they make," she says. "For Darnell, it gave him that confidence he has now. It was just what he needed."
