Finally we have what people have been asking us for a long time: boot from USB Dongle - no more Floppy or CD required, simply boot ATMdesk from the USB Dongle!

But please note these restrictions:

+ booting only from  ATMdesk's USB Dongle ( booting from other USB sticks is NOT possible ! ),

+ Firmware of USB Dongle must be upgraded to V.3.0 and the ATMdesk image loaded on to the USB Dongle,

+ booting from the ATM's PS2 port via PS2-to-USB Adapter is not possible,

+ only NCR PIVAT & Talladega cores allow for boot from USB,

+ and booting from the USB port must be enabled in the PC Core's BIOS !

The best new however: it is free !!!

So - in summary - boot from USB is a very handy feature, but it is still wise to have an ATMdesk Floppy of CD at hand, just in case...

Many people found it cumbersome and not up to date to save Error Logs, Tallies or ATMdesk Logs on floppies. 

ATMdesk now saves data to USB: simply use ATMdesk's USB Dongle or insert any thrid party USB stick and save Error Logs, Tallies, or ATM-desk's Logs...

Back in your office, simply insert the USB Dongle or stick into your PC and copy the files to your PC for further analysis.

Pls note that ATMdesk's USB Dongle must be upgraded to Firmware V.3.0. Saving data via PS2-to-USB Adapter is not possible.

Last month we released ATMdesk/Pro for NCR SelfServ 66xx machines. We received lots of positive feedback: e.g. Derek B. from England "perfect to quickly browse through the Error Logs & Tallies to see what might fail in the near future and replace it now, rather than waiting until the machine goes out of service a few days or weeks later!".

 

But we also received requests to support add'l devices like USB DIP Readers, CPMs etc. We are working hard now adding support for more USB devices. If you find devices not supported by ATMdesk, please contact Support.

 

This month we added support for PCI SDC Controllers, which was crucial for ATMdesk to run on the first generation of 66xx machines (for details please read the feature article).

But the best news: it is free! Just download ATMdesk V.7.1 and upgrade your USB Dongles to Firmware V.3.0...

The first generation of NCR 66xx machines still had various SDC devices, connect via a PCI-to-SDC Adapter. ATMdesk now supports this PCI-to-SDC Adapter and thus all the early 66xx machines, which still had SDC devices.

Recently people started upgrading 58xx with Taladega Cores which also come with this PCI-to-SDC Adapter. ATMdesk now supports also all those 58xx machines in the field, which have been upgraded with Taladega Cores.
