The question of whether employers must ensure employees take meal and rest breaks has been a source of much litigation and confusion.  In April of this year, the California Supreme Court issued its long-awaited decision in the Brinker Restaurant Corp. v. Superior Court case, clarifying what the law is for meal and rest breaks.

 

Local attorney Terry O'Connor will explain what employers need to know to avoid high stakes penalties that could result from being out of compliance with a recent California Supreme Court ruling. You will learn:

  • Practices and policies to avoid meal and rest period claims.
  • Hours worked and record keeping issues.
