| Letter From The President |
Greetings!
The cold weather is quickly settling in for the duration. Our staff is busy putting the final touches on the budgets for 2011, the men-folk are counting down to Opening Day, and we of the fairer sex are counting down the days until we finally get the office to ourselves.
As you look out onto your yard and gardens in their final moments before being blanketed in snow please keep safety in mind. It's time to prepare for the impending battle we have each and every winter in Michigan. As the snow flies and the ice begins to build up please take the proper precautions.

Sure Footing
|
Please attempt to insert into your winter newsletters a statement regarding snow and ice removal responsibilities on the common areas and that your association can not guarantee safe footing 100% of the time. The best removal efforts are often diminished by Mother Nature.
The thawing and refreezing of snow and ice, the lack of sufficient sun on the north facing elevations, and in many cases, the lack of proper footwear worn by co-owners contribute to hazardous winter walking. Each co-owner must assess their unique condition and prepare accordingly. Perhaps neighbors can collect mail for co-owners or take trash bags to the dumpster for those who are not sure of foot. Ice melting agents can be used to cover walking paths and provide a safer walking condition.

Fundraising for Food Bank of Eastern Michigan
|
Cummings Property Management continues to collect for the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan. To date we have collected $3,764 from our partner communities.
It is more important than ever to extend a helping hand to those in need. We are proud to be working with so many wonderful and generous communities. Together we have raised enough to purchase over $50,000 in food.

A Matter of Importance
|
As the days fly by, we note that the majority of associations have completed their Annual Meeting requirement, have drafted budgets for 2011, and are readying their community for the approaching winter weather. As you are preparing to put the finishing touches on your Board responsibilities prior to the holiday season, consider setting your calendar of meetings now for 2011. Encourage each other to not request a change in meeting date. Rescheduling of meetings is difficult and disrupts the flow of business for your community.
