Those Pesky Beavers!

tree attacked by beaversWhen we arrived at the resort last week, we discovered that Duck Bay had wintered very well with one exception.  A number of trees are missing.  Canada's national animal, or national rodent as some would say, have been hard at work.  Beavers have taken down over a dozen trees on the property and are in the process of working on this one.  We'll "help" them and cut it down as it is very close to a couple of buildings.

Getting Ready to Open for the Season

We're at the resort getting things cleaned and polished for the arrival of our first guests at the end of next week.  Boats are being re-carpet and several have been re-powered with new 50 h.p. motors.  We're also upgrading each bathroom with new flooring and new towels.

Your Fishing License

This year the Ontario government has gone to an on-line issuing system.  Even if your current Ontario Outdoors Card is expired, please bring it;  it can be swiped to call up your information, your license is printed and you're ready to fish!

Looking forward to seeing everyone!  If you haven't yet booked your trip, click here to see available dates.

 What we Did This Winter...

hiking in Arizona
hiking in the mountains of Arizona.

Winters just seem to fly by.  This fall we started a project we'd been planning for awhile - the move from PC's to MAC computers.

Fortunately, Apple offers training courses so we were there a lot. Which just goes to show that you can teach a couple of old dogs some new tricks!

Then late in the winter, we were able to have all of our children and grandchildren down to Arizona for spring break.  This was a special time for us;  with living on the island all summer and spending a good portion of the winter down south, we don't get to see them nearly enough.

It was a hectic and fun week.  We hiked in the mountains, visited the Grand Canyon and with the weather over 90 degrees, also spent a lot of time at the neighborhood pool.  At the wildlife zoo the giraffes ate carrots right out of the kids' hands, which was thrilling for them. Once they left, it took Grandma and Grandpa a few days to recover!
