Getting close to the end of the fishing season...

Duane Kaiser's 28 inch walleyeIt is unbelievable how quickly the summer has flown by!  September is here, and the guides consider it the best-kept secret. Fishing is generally terrific as the water cools down, and the fish come shallow.  Crappies start to school up.  We're open until the end of the month so come on up!

What's really important in life...

Darlene, Bill & Paige Morton

Sometimes we forget it, but what is really important in life are our friends and family. And when we make the effort to spend quality time together, we create memories that last a lifetime.

Pictured at left are long-time guests Bill and Darlene Morton (Lancaster, TX) who brought their granddaughter Paige for her first Canadian fishing trip.  Everyone who was here enjoyed Paige's outgoing personality!  Paige fished all day, even on the really windy days, and caught more fish than Grandpa.

Getting ready for 2012...

 Duck Bay Lodge lumberjacks
We don't start getting ready for the new season in the spring.  At Duck Bay Lodge, we start in the fall preparing for the next year and planning the projects we'd like to do.  Here are Bryan and Stefan laying in firewood for spring.  This is a job they will be glad to see finished!

Other projects we're still tackling this fall are to re-carpet most of the boats, replace some log siding on the lodge and change our water purification system to the new and highest standard recommended by the Northwestern Ontario Health Unit.  We'll be moving from a chlorination and filtering system to ultra-violet light.
