The Accidental Muskie... |
|
In June, guest Don Anderson (Brookfield, IL) was fishing for walleye. He had on 6 pound test, a jig and minnow, and no leader. He was reeling in a perch when a muskie grabbed it. The hook fell out of the perch's mouth and hooked the muskie.
Don was fishing alone, and by this time several other boats had gathered around to watch the action. Fortunately one of the other fishermen offered to help. After a 25 minute fight, they landed this nice 43 inch muskie. It was absolutely amazing that with such a fight it did not break the 6 pound line!

Muskie Hunting... |
This was Mike Flynn's tenth trip to Duck Bay Lodge. Mike commented that in the ten years he has been coming up, he has seen improvements in the muskie fishing, both in terms of quantity (numbers of muskie) and quality (size of the fish).
During his recent two week stay at Duck Bay, Mike raised 106 muskies and boated 24. Ten of the muskies boated were over 40 inches, with the largest being 49 inches (pictured at right).
In addition, he caught eight northern pike over 30 inches, including three 39 inch and a 40 inch.
