When we first bought Duck Bay Lodge back in 1988, the camp had been closed for a number of years. No menu plans or recipes came with the kitchen. So over the years Sheree developed her own menus and collection of recipes. When guests ask for one of our recipes, we ask if they would mind swapping our recipe for one of their own personal favorites. And a lot of our very best recipes are ones guests have sent us over the years. One of the most requested recipes is for our homemade barbeque sauce. And yes, it is one that a guest passed on. If you try it and like it, please feel free to share one of your own favorites with us! You can e-mail them to Sheree at sheree@duckbaylodge.com.
2 tablespoons vinegar (cider)
2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon salt
1/2 teaspoon red pepper
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon chili powder
3/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup water
Dump all ingredients into a saucepan. Heat to boiling, and simmer the heck out of it. For a thicker sauce, cut down on the water. Enjoy!
The joke is on...
Guests make it a lot
of fun around here! They play tricks on the others in their group and sometimes even on us. Long-time guests Randy Koch, Mark Quandahl and Scott Sullivan recently brought guide Bryan a "special" gift - a Barbie fishing rod. Well the joke was on them because Bryan caught the first three "keeper" walleyes of the day on it!!
