Future Conferences and Trainings

The Youth At-Risk Conference sponsored by JDCAP is now open for registration. All registrations must be completed on line.

 

This year's conference title is

All registrants will be required to indicate if you are registering for the full conference or if you are just attending individual (1 or 2) days.

  

If you register for the full conference, please indicate if you are planning to attend the Thursday night banquet (for no additional fee!) If you register for one or two days, you may also register for the banquet separately for an additional fee.

 

If you register for the full conference, you will have the choice between attending The Motivational Interviewing Training for Trainers will run for the full 2 ½ days of the conference  or attending a the breakout sessions (which you must select.)

Applications for continuing education will be submitted for Social Workers and Attorneys.

 

We will not be offering continuing education for nurses this year. If your facility nurses are interested in educational opportunities, please have them contact Wayne Bear.

In addition to the conference training opportunities, JDCAP will hold our Strategic Planning Session on Tuesday from 2-5 PM. Following this session, we are planning a night of activities which will involve a sports activity to be determined by the attendees at the Shuman facility.

 

On Wednesday morning, early arrivals may participate in tours of the Shuman facility.

 

We suggest carpooling as much as possible to reduce individual or county costs. If you are interested in carpooling arrangements, please contact Wayne Bear.

Web Page Addresses LGBTQI Juveniles in Corrections

NIC announces a new Web page that provides information and resources regarding lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and intersex (LGBTQI) youth in juvenile corrections settings. (NIC)

 

The National PREA Resource Center and Vera Institute of Justice invite you to join us on 9/13/12 from 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. Eastern time for the third webinar in the Resource Center's PREA in Action Webinar Series. In this interactive web conference, Dave Maynard, Anders Jacobson, and Kristen Withrow from the Colorado Department of Human Services , Division of Youth Corrections (DYC) will discuss how DYC has embraced PREA as part of providing a safe environment and healthy culture for youth and staff as well as the specific steps the agency has taken and plans to take to implement the PREA standards.

Webinar To Highlight Healthy Adolescent Development

On September 13, 2012, at 2 p.m. E.T., the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, in conjunction with the Federal Partners in Bullying Prevention, will present "Strategies to Ensure a Healthy Adolescence," the next installment in its ongoing bullying prevention Webinar series. During the 90-minute Webinar, presenters will discuss how to foster youth's strengths and respond to their needs and how to enhance protective factors for this population. They will also highlight the importance of using prosocial messaging to create a positive peer culture among youth.
