For Immediate Release:

HUHS Receives State Technology Education Award

HARTFORD, WI -  The Hartford Union High School District is pleased to announce the district's Technology & Engineering Education Department has received the Wisconsin Technology Education Association's (WTEA) "High School Program of the Year" award.  Each year the WTEA honors education and industry professionals who have demonstrated outstanding service and commitment to Technology Education. The High School award specifically provides recognition to a high school that delivers an outstanding program which provides students with rigorous training and skill development in the areas and concepts of technology and engineering.

In order to qualify for this award, the HUHS Technology & Engineering Education Department curriculum should reflect state, national and/or industry standards. During the application process, the Department prepared a program portfolio which included school curriculum documentation, facility photographs, course descriptions, newspaper articles and media releases, testimonials, and a letter of recommendation from the school Principal.

Faculty from the HUHS Technology & Engineering Education Department were recognized and presented the state award at the annual WTEA Awards Banquet held in Wisconsin Dells on March 10.  These teachers include: John Lonergan, Carmen DeBack, Corey McCauley, Joe Nied, Kieth Kohls, Brad Dzikowski, and Jason Kraus.

By receiving this award, Hartford Union High School will serve as the Wisconsin Representative for the International Technology & Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA), and is also nominated for the association's High School Program of the Year award for 2012. The winner of this award will be recognized at the ITEEA conference in Long Beach California.

"It was a pleasure for me to attend  and participate in the ceremony at the WTEA conference honoring our TEE Department," said Principal Joe Frinzi. "The Department is also implementing a Project Lead The Way program   which will add more rigor to our TEE curriculum and attract more students. This is an example of the educationally progressive stance of the TEE department which is an integral part of our overall school curriculum."
