Subject: CDBG-EAP for Long-term Disaster Mitigation for Business Assistance
The Department of Commerce is announcing the availability of up to an additional $6,000,000 in disaster recovery funds for long-term mitigation assistance for business projects only. The funds are intended to provide long-term disaster mitigation assistance identified as a result of storms and flooding that occurred during the Federally Declared Disaster Period of June 5 through July 25, 2008 (FEMA-1768-DR-WI).
All Counties, and municipalities within those counties, covered by FEMA-1768-DR-WI are eligible to apply for funds from this Supplemental Allocation. The 31 Counties include: Adams, Calumet, Columbia, Crawford, Dane, Dodge, Fond du Lac, Grant, Green, Green Lake, Iowa, Jefferson, Juneau, Kenosha, LaCrosse, LaFayette, Manitowoc, Marquette, Milwaukee, Monroe, Ozaukee, Racine, Richland, Rock, Sauk, Sheboygan, Vernon, Walworth, Washington, Waukesha, and Winnebago.
If your community has a business(s) that suffered damages during FEMA-1768-DR-WI and needs assistance in providing long-term mitigation to prevent similar damages from future events, these funds may be available for those efforts. The Department's goals are to prevent future damages for local businesses, with a priority given to those businesses with low- to moderate-income employees. It should be noted that final release of these funds by the State is contingent upon HUD approval of Wisconsin's Funding Plan.
Please contact one of the staff persons below if you are interested in applying for these funds. The application packet will be available by the close of business Dec. 7, 2010 on the Commerce website at http://commerce.wi.gov/ . An application must be submitted to the Department (hand-delivered or post-marked) by 5:00 PM CST on January 7, 2011.
