Non-Competition Agreements and Trade Secret Protection:
Risk Management and Best Practices
for Incoming and Departing Employees

As electronic transfer of information becomes easier and easier, the temptation for incoming and departing employees to bring proprietary, confidential and trade secret information with them to their new jobs can be irresistible. This creates substantial risk for the former employer (which may have lost information) and the new employer (which faces legal exposure for acquiring the information). At the same time, as businesses spend more and more time and energy creating and improving customer relationships and protecting their intellectual property, the law limiting their ability to protect these relationships and information is changing constantly. This session will update attendees on the legal landscape, and focus on practical actions and best practices businesses can adopt to protect their goodwill and intellectual property, and at the same time reduce their legal exposure.
