"Statistics show that women influence 85% of all purchasing decisions. However, most sales training focuses on selling to men-even though men and women have very different expectations about their shopping and purchasing experiences. Connie Podesta, an expert in the psychology of human behavior and sales strategies, will give you a realistic and insightful view into a woman's mind from the moment the sales relationship begins. She shares the top five deal breakers for women and how to avoid them so you can CLOSE THE DEAL every time. Connie Podesta has helped tens of thousands of salespeople attract and keep more customers plus become more successful than they thought possible. And the really good news? You'll also learn new information about how to understand the psychology of selling to men as well!"

A Message From Your Executive Managing Director: Making a Difference to your Community and the World this month
| |

How do you make a difference every day? Is it possible to get up every morning and consciously 'lift as you climb' on life's journey? Do you take the time to think about helping others in small ways whenever possible?
eWomen Network is helping you this month by targeting several ways we can all give back, just by networking. By joining us for events, encouraging membership, donating to our fundraising for Foundation efforts or writing a thank you note to a Veteran, you can make a difference in the world!
- Membership Match by HO: If you were thinking of joining eWomen Network, this is the month to do it! In saying thanks to all the women who serve in our Armed Forces and who put their lives on the line for Canada and the US, this is the month to join or encourage someone you know to join eWomen Network. For every new member who joins this month, Sandra Yancey will match the membership with one for a woman veteran. Women who have served often come back to a community and need to feel like they fit somewhere. Let's welcome them to our world!
- Attend an event: Join us on Oct. 27th for an up-lifting evening with Marcia Julian, from Developing World Connections as she shares stories and inspires you to consider taking a 'Meaningful Travel Adventures: Building Hope thru Service; How You can Make a Difference on Your Next Vacation!'
- Grants to our community: help us to give $8000 to a worthy local charity next July in Dallas. We would love to take one, if not, two groups to the International Conference next July and award them money and a year-long program of support. We need you to help us fundraise. Ask Foundation Leadership Team members Narges Nirumvala and Dianne Richards how you can help.
- Please join me in pledging to write a thank you letter: Write a letter to thank our phenomenal veterans across North America on November 11, 2011!
We are able to celebrate our liberties and freedoms because of the courageous valor of our veterans, both active and retired! Please join our "Pledge a Letter" Thank You campaign.
If you personally know a veteran (spouse, son/daughter, grandparent, etc.) then you already know how impactful this letter campaign will be. The outpouring of love and appreciation will lift the spirits of our vets who have served in the past as well as for those that are currently serving.
If you don't know someone who has served, please know that your letter of encouragement and appreciation is just as valuable and just as important! If you can imagine, some of our soldiers never receive a letter from home. To receive the unexpected-a message of thanks-from a complete stranger is one of the greatest gifts you can give!
So how can you participate? Go to: www.ewomennetwork.com and locate the pledge button on the home page. It is free and takes no time at all. Help us write 1 million letters on Nov. 11th. Spread the word! #LTRS4VETS

Top 8 Wireless Travel Tips
|
Today's guest contributor is Darci LaRocque, President, Speaker and Trainer at Swirl Solutions. Darci loves to share creative ways to mitigate costs on wireless bills and increase productivity while using your Smartphone or Tablet. She is passionate about using the right apps for your business and understanding how your Smartphone/Tablet can really works with your Email.
Most people travel at some point during the year for business or pleasure. We've all heard those disturbing travel stories where people return home to the nightmare of enormous cell phone bills. I mean really enormous, thousands, if not tens of thousands! Let me suggest how you might avoid disaster by following a few simple steps:
1. WIFI - If you have a phone that has Wi-Fi you should definitely take advantage of this great cost saving feature. Almost every cafe, restaurant, or hotel has Wi-Fi. Most are free and some are paid services. Now Wi-Fi generally will only allow you to use your data portion: email, bbm, pin, browse, etc... not voice. Here is a quick video I did for how to set up Wi-Fi on your BlackBerry.
2. SKYPE - If you haven't jumped on the Skype bandwagon, you should. How great is it that my 8 year old niece can do a Video Call so Auntie can see her new dress? For business it is an inexpensive way to make long distance calls and it's FREE if the other person has Skype. (Skype to Skype). Check more about Skype here.
3. GOOGLE TALK - similar to Skype and FREE to anyone in North America. Check it out here.
4. PHONE CARDS - For a quick call when not online, it's usually far cheaper to use a calling card and a payphone, especially in Latin America. Mexican payphones, for example, cost about 50 cents a minute to the US and using your cell phone without an add-on plan will cost at least 3 x as much. Do check what the hotel is going to charge you per call. Usually $1 to $2 dollars per call on top of the per minute fee, so find out if that equates to savings in your case.
5. SIM CARDS - If you are a talker and need to make a lot of calls, purchase a SIM card when you arrive at a new destination. They usually have them at the airport. Just swap your SIM card (that is the white small card inside your phone) and pay their local rates. Once your minutes are expired you can reload them almost anywhere.
6. PHONE AND BLACKBERRY RENTALS - Did you know you can rent a phone? One place is Travelcell. You pay only for the minutes you use and sometimes incoming calls are free. Usually outgoing calls are the same or lower than what your own carrier charges.
7. CALL YOUR CARRIER - I cannot stress this enough. Before you go on any trip it is essential to call your Carrier/Provider! Ask about their add on plans whatever your destination. I have personally had clients come back after a trip with $400, $2500 and $17000 dollar bills! Don't let this happen to you. Keep your money in YOUR pocket.
8. AND A FINAL WORK OF CAUTION . . . ALWAYS prepare for your trip in advance. It might be too late to make any changes once you get to your final destination.

How to Develop Reciprocal Referral Relationships
|
by Sue Clement, Success Coaching
If you're looking to grow you business faster, start by looking for opportunities to build referral partner relationships. I consider this "networking on steroids". After all, wouldn't you love it if you started to get referrals coming your way... every week!
Yes, we all would. I encourage my clients to take networking to a new level by focusing their efforts on finding and developing referral relationships. Even though we'd all love to walk out of a networking event with a hot prospect, it's short-sighted if we miss out on building referral opportunities.
Referral partners can quickly help you to increase your business -- while you help them increase theirs. There are several types of referral partner relationships, and the most typical and obvious is the reciprocal type. Read on to discover how it works and where to find it.
Step 1 - Identify
A reciprocal referral partner relationship is when you both have the same target customer and you can easily refer customers back and forth to each other. Often you'll have complimentary services that are a close fit. You might even share some of the same suppliers.
But where can you find these people? Look at your ideal or target customer and figure out what other services or products they buy that align with your own products or services.
For example, a computer network installer could easily collect referrals from a moving company, a commercial property manager, or even a security systems salesperson. These are all people who would likely know of someone who's moving and could use the computer network installer's services.
Here is another common example to think about: a mortgage broker, a lawyer, a realtor, and a home stager all go together because anyone who sells a house will definitely need a mortgage broker, a realtor, and a lawyer. And if they want to sell their home faster and for more money, they could also use a home stager.
That foursome works well together. But it doesn't have to end there. A moving company, a yard clean-up company, and even an organizing specialist might be able to fit in as well. They all work with people who want to sell their house, and so they could make ideal reciprocal referral partners for each other.
Spend some time thinking about your target customer and what other services they might use. Start by making a list of aligning industries or services and products that your target customers regularly purchase. Don't be shy about thinking out of the box - for example: a life insurance salesperson can be a great reciprocal partner to a fitness trainer or health coach.
Step 2 - Approach
Once you've identified some aligning industries begin networking to meet people in these industries. If you're not sure who to approach, simply ask your customers for an introduction or at networking events ask for introductions or referrals to people in these positions and companies.
Once you have an introduction, set up a meeting to explore each other services. You want to ensure they have the:
- The mindset for reciprocating
- The opportunity to come into contact with good prospects for you (& you for them)
- The same professional level of quality standards you have
And finally remember, that like any relationship.... It takes time and consistent contact to develop. So get started! You'll be thrilled when referrals start coming your way.
