Greetings!

I just returned from the ACO (Attention Deficit Coaches' Organization) Conference in Chicago. I had the privilege of meeting some amazing professionals and I am beyond happy that I made the effort to attend. One of the presenters stated a statistic that blew me away; there are only 300 practicing ADHD coaches in the world! While I plan to verify this number, it got me thinking; "WOW, no wonder why most people don't know anything about what I have trained so hard to do!" Read on......

What is ADHD Coaching?
Coach character
ADHD coaching is a specialized type of life coaching that uses specific techniques geared toward working with the unique brain wiring of individuals with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADD or ADHD). Professional coaching is not a substitute for traditional, multimodal treatment such as medication, diet, exercise, and other therapy. But adding a well-trained coach to this treatment can make a world of difference for the individual AND those around him/her. Coaches work with clients to help them better manage time, organize, set goals and complete projects. In addition to helping clients understand the impact ADHD has on their lives, coaches can help clients develop "work around" strategies to deal with specific challenges, and determine individual strengths. ADDers often truly believe that they have no strengths. Coaches also help clients get a better grasp of what reasonable expectations are for them as individuals, since ADDers often need external mirrors for accurate self-awareness about their potential.*

I believe that people with ADHD are incredibly bright and creative. I help clients identify what's important to them and help them ignite the "spark" within them. Sure, ADHD presents challenges, but a little knowledge can go a long, long way.
