Scholarship It's time for interested graduating high school seniors from this parish to apply for a Jane Howell Stupp Living Memorial Scholarship for college for the 2012-2013 academic year. This fund was established by Mrs. Stupp's family to provide one-time only college scholarships to worthy recipients. This is a competitive scholarship and not all applicants may receive a scholarship. You need to make a written application for this grant by writing the rector and including a transcript, a list of all financial support you are receiving and two letters of reference, one of which must be written by a teacher. Your information must be received in the rector's office by Monday, June 4, 2012. |
Columbarium Reconsecration Liturgy The restoration and expansion of the Page Garden columbarium is complete. Take a peek outside if you haven't seen it yet. To celebrate this important milestone, the parish is invited to a special liturgy of reconsecration and Holy Eucharist, in the Page Garden, on Friday, May 25, at 6 PM. The next morning we will begin re-interring the urns from the lockers to the niches. That process will continue on subsequently until complete. Following completion of the re-interrment, the lockers in the cloister hallway will be removed. The refurbished columbarium tangibly embodies our Christian confidence that we are surrounded by a "great cloud of witnesses," as well as the unity between the church militant (those Christians alive now) and the church triumphant (those who have gone before). And, importantly, it symbolizes our Christian hope in bodily resurrection. We are excited that it has been finished in this, the parish's centennial year! Come celebrate at the reconsecration service on Friday, May 25 at 6 PM! Reservations for the service are not necessary, but if you know you are coming, please call the church at 314.721.1502.

Investigate Red Sea Rules by Robert J. Morgan, which reveals, even in the midst of seemingly impossible situations, God's promise to make a way for us. His loving guidance will protect us through danger, illness, marital strife or financial problems.

Blessed Art Thou by Michael McGarth is a lovely gift for anyone's mother. McGarth's paintings in this collection are a result of his loving fascination with Madonnas. Combined with poetic and candid prayers these images speak to all people who search for meaning and joy in a troubled world. They speak, too, to the artistic and creative soul in each of us. A beautiful and meaningful gift to be enjoyed for days to come.
A wonderful gift for the new baby in the family is Baby's First Book of Prayers. Lovingly illustrated and a treasure of first prayers for your little one.
Be sure to take a look at The Episcopal Handbook. It's the indispensable companion for anyone who wants to be a well-informed churchgoer and wouldn't mind having a good chuckle along the way.
A major new series of guides for everyone to the New Testament is available in Canterbury Bookstore. Making use of his scholar's understanding, yet writing in an approachable and anecdotal style, Tom Wright manages to unravel the great complexity of the books of the New Testament. Wright has undertaken a tremendous task: to provide guides to all the books of the New Testament and includes them with his own translation of the entire text. The series is suitable for group study, personal study or daily devotions. Available in Canterbury Bookstore $15. Sacred Doorways: A Beginners Guide to Icons by Linette Martin is for those who wish they understood more about icons. Martin explains the history of icons, the materials and techniques used in creating them, and the visual language of icons. But beyond providing a historical and artistic background, Martin also writes as a fellow spiritual pilgrim, enriching our understanding of the Orthodox spirituality that is celebrated and expressed through this ancient art form.
