Tuesday, May 1Book discussion sketch
Book Discussion:
Portrait of the Artist
as a Young Man

Daniel C. Williamson will lead a discussion of James Joyce's A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. In this great Bildungsroman, a young man's life is formed by the divergent forces of lust, religion, art, politics and ambition. Discussions will take place on May 1 and 8 in the Sverdrup Room at 7:30 PM. Download flyer.

Sunday, May 6
Evensong

Upcoming Events
Tuesday, May 8
6 PM
Steak & Stories
On May 8 our speaker will be Mr. Bob Stupp whom most everyone at the parish knows. But... did you know that Stupp Bros., Inc. has been in business for 156 years and is in its 6th generation of Stupp leadership? Did you also know that the Stupp family started off at St. George church before it merged with CSMSG? The Stupp family has a long business history, but also quite a bit to say about their family's involvement at our own church. For reservations e-mail the receptionist at alice@csmsg.org or call 314.721.1502.

Wednesday, May 9
Girls Choir MeetingGirls choir practicing
Do you have a daughter, ages 9-18, interested in joining the Girls Choir? Please join us on May 9 with dinner starting at 6:30 PM in the Great Hall. Dessert and a short presentation will follow in the Taylor Room from 7-8 PM describing the expectations, schedule, and how membership in the choir will have a lasting impact on a choir member and her family. Please RSVP to Alice at the front desk at 314.721.1502 or e-mail her at alice@csmsg.org.

Sunday, May 13
Evensong at the Abbey
The Choir will sing an Eastertide service of Choral Evensong on Sunday, May 13, at 5 PM at the St. Louis Abbey, 500 South Mason Road in Creve Coeur. The service will include evening canticles by Arvo Pärt and Gustav Holst as well as music of Henry Gerike and Horatio Parker. A festive reception, hosted by the monks of the monastery, will follow to which all are cordially invited. This service is an offering of worship as part of our ongoing ecumenical relationship with the monks of the Abbey. Please plan to be a part of this beautiful, contemplative liturgy to mark the closing of the day and to celebrate our relationship with the St. Louis Abbey.

Monday, May 14
Susan Mount Guild
The Susan Mount Guild will meet on Monday, May 14 at noon in the Great Hall. All parishoners are invited for a delicious luncheon. If you are interested, please make your reservation with Helen Cavin  at 314.647.0889, no later than Wednesday, May 9. We look forward to welcoming you.
Columbarium Reconsecration Liturgy
The restoration and expansion of the Page Garden columbarium is complete.  Take a peek outside if you haven't seen it yet. To celebrate this important milestone, the parish is invited to a special liturgy of reconsecration and Holy Eucharist, in the Page Garden, on Friday, May 25, at 6 PM.

The next morning we will begin re-interring the urns from the lockers to the niches. That process will continue on subsequently until complete. Following completion of the re-interrment, the lockers in the cloister hallway will be removed.

The refurbished columbarium tangibly embodies our Christian confidence that we are surrounded by a "great cloud of witnesses," as well as the unity between the church militant (those Christians alive now) and the church triumphant (those who have gone before). And, importantly, it symbolizes our Christian hope in bodily resurrection. We are excited that it has been finished in this, the parish's centennial year!

Come celebrate at the reconsecration service on Friday, May 25 at 6 PM! Reservations for the service are not necessary, but if you know you are coming, please call the church at 314.721.1502.
