This Sunday, October 24
Pledge Sunday We cannot love God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind unless we also love God with our pocketbook. As we grow in generosity, we are transformed in ways we would never imagine. All parishioners are asked to bring their pledges to the altar Sunday, October 24.
Growing In Generosity Stewardship Campaign 2011

Last Sunday, John Tyler shared with us his "kitchen table" upbringing on stewardship. As John said, "If my allowance was 50 cents, Dad never gave me two quarters. You can't tithe that. He would give me a quarter, two dimes, and a nickel. When I learned in Sunday school that the Israelites tithed the first fruits of their crops and herds, I knew exactly what "first fruits" meant because I tithed the first fruits of my weekly allowance. I gave to God first, out of my abundance-not last, out of my surplus."

This user-friendly forum offers a comfortable environment where we all learn and think together about how our Christian faith intersects with our lives. Our current series is titled "Growing in Generosity." Click this link for a description of the exciting topics to be discussed throughout the year. Faith and Life information
Guest Choirmaster This week we will welcome Bruce Barber as guest choirmaster. Each year the CSMSG Choir spends several days working with a master conductor who spends rehearsal time with the choir over a period of several days and then directs the choral music during the Sunday liturgy. Bruce J. Barber II was appointed Director of Cathedral Music of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. James, Chicago in January 2004. Prior to joining the staff of St. James, he served as Canon Precentor and Director of Cathedral Music at the Cathedral Church of St. John in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he developed a highly respected and internationally acclaimed music program consisting of a large choral program for both children and adults, various multi-faceted concert series and an organ recital series. Trained as a choral and orchestral conductor, an organist and cellist, Bruce Barber holds degrees from Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida, and from the Yale School of Music and the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. His professional affiliations are as a member of the Association of Anglican Musicians, a member and Past Dean of the American Guild of Organists, and Board Member of Early Music Now, which presents leading performers of early music in concert in the greater Milwaukee, Wisconsin area.

Music News Calling All Cantors In October we incorporated the singing of the Psalm into the weekly celebration of The Holy Eucharist at 5:30 PM in St. George's Chapel. The Psalms will be sung antiphonally, between cantor and congregation, as we have been doing, and will continue to do, on Sunday mornings.
Toward this end, a Cantor's Guild is forming which will be responsible for the leadership of the singing at the 5:30 PM Eucharist each Sunday. Participation in this ministry will be on a volunteer basis and it is a wonderful and meaningful way to serve as a leader in worship and liturgy. The frequency of responsibility for services will depend directly on the number of those who participate.
Any who are interested in participating in this ministry, please call Robert Lehman at the church or email him at rwlehman@csmsg.org.
CSMSG Youth Choir It's not too late to join the CSMSG Youth Choir. Please contact Christi Bye at cbye@csmsg.org or 314.721.1502 for more information!
