WASHINGTON PARK UPDATE

This Week in the Park
January 31 - February 4, 2011

  • Drilled and installed tie-backs on retention walls along 14th Street and Race Street
  • Continue lagging board installation to tie-back elevation along 14th Street and Race Street
  • Mass excavation in the middle of the garage and along the northern & eastern perimeter walls
  • Constructed access road to the bottom of the garage site to begin next wave of (2nd lift) excavation to get to final depth of 30 feet deep
  • Continued hauling off mass excavation spoils (dirt) from the site
  • Continued survey and general layout on south side of park
  • Began capping of existing utilities in the south end of the park

Next Week in the Park
February 7 - 11, 2011

  • Continue drilling and installing tie-backs on retention walls along Race Street
  • Continue lagging board installation to tie-back elevation along Race Street
  • Begin 2nd lift of mass excavation of garage working west to east
    • Starting at the SW corner near Memorial Hall
    • 2nd lift of mass excavation is the final digging effort to the bottom of the hole which is 30' deep
  • Haul off mass excavation spoils (weather permitting)
  • Remove 13th Street entry columns for re-furbishing and historic preservation - to be re-installed at a later date
  • Continue layout and survey at south end of park
