Grilling Tip!
Provided by: Alison Held, Clinical Nutritionist
Remember: your outdoor grill can be used for vegetables too! Make the most of your outdoor dining experience by loading up skewers with cubed colorful veggies. Your kitchen will stay cool without the heat from the stove and your plate will be just as healthy.
Veggies with a higher water content work best for grilling. These include onions, squash, tomatoes and peppers. Make sure that you cut your vegetables to be approximately the same size so they cook evenly. Place any delicate veggies away from the hottest part of the flame and keep a close eye on them, rotating often to avoid burning.
Think that marinades are just for meats? Think again! Most vegetables only need about 30 minutes of marinating time.
Ready for dessert? Fruits can work just as well on the grill so consider keeping the gas on throughout dinner so you can tame your sweet tooth post meal!
