Moore

May 6,
2011

Greetings!

We are proud to announce that in June 2011 we will be opening our 4th Physical Therapy Center at 83 Harvard Avenue in Stamford, CT (conveniently located off 95).  This 8,700 square foot space will complement our sister office at 1250 Summer Street and allow us to expand the excellent work started by Rich Epstein in 1999.

Moore's philosophy is to get you better and keep you healthy.  We feel this new office at Harvard will enhance our ability to continue our 21 year track record of quality healthcare within our communities.  The facility has ample space for personal training and physical therapy.

Stamford's native son, Steve Melchionno, will be returning to the Stamford area to run 83 Harvard Avenue.  Steve was born and raised in Stamford and is excited to provide quality healthcare for his community.

When you see Steve, please wish him luck and spread the word about our two facilities in Stamford:  Moore Stamford at Summer Street and, the brand new sister office, Moore Stamford at Harvard Ave.

Yours in Health,

Bob Moore

Warm Weather - Warm Muscles Players

By Bonni Thomsen, Personal Trainer at Moore

Now that the warm weather has finally arrived, we begin to get over the hibernation the long winter months have brought us. As you dust off your running shoes, mountain bikes and bathing suits and begin to get ready to work off those few extra pounds of winter weight, your Personal Training team at Moore wants to remind you of a few things.

First make sure to start off slowly, especially if you have not remained active throughout the winter. Start with a brisk walk before a run or a bike ride around town before taking your bike to the rough trails.

Second always remember your static stretching comes AFTER your activity, never before. An example of a static stretch is reaching down and touching your toes.

Asparagus Fries
by Alison Held, Nutritionist at Moore

Instead of traditional french fries or even sweet potato fries, why not asparagus?  This is prime season for this flavorful vegetable.  Asparagus are a great source of fiber, rich in potassium, and full of many important vitamins such as B, C & K.  The coconut oil is a healthy fat that has potent anti-viral properties.

Ingredients:

Asparagus

1 Tbs coconut oil (per lb of aspargus)

Sea salt

Directions:

Cut off woody end of asparagus.  Line a pan with foil and preheat broiler.  Lay out the asparagus in a line on the lined pan and add melted coconut oil, then sprinkle sea salt on top.  Broil for 7-9 minutes, very close to the broiler coil, then turn the asparagus over and broil another 3-5 minutes (time will depend on thickness of stalks).
