Is Kinesiotaping Right For You?
By Greg Besson, MSPT at Moore
Perhaps you've seen pictures of professional athletes with bright tape on their arms or legs; applied in strange patterns. What is it and what is the point? It's called Kinesiotape and it's not just for professional athletes. At Moore, we've used it on youth athletes, weekend warriors and more.
Kinesiotape is meant to be an extension of physical therapy. It is meant to bridge the gap between sessions with your therapist and can be used with any orthopedic condition. It allows athletes to compete at a more optimal level by decreasing the pain they are experiencing. After the physical therapist appropriately diagnoses the problem and the causes, a specific taping procedure is used for the individual and the condition.
