Greetings!

With the arrival of spring let me remind all our youth and high school athletes along with our adult and active aging population the importance of PROPER HYDRATION.  We have all learned the hard way, having suffered from headaches, unusual fatigue, muscle cramping  and overall weakness from poor hydration planning and execution. So simply get in the habit of consuming your 10-12 cups of water per day and plan ahead.

All of us at MOORE wish you a glorious spring as we celebrate our 20th year! We'd like to thank each and every one of you for all your help along the way, we could have not done it without your support!

How Well Do You Know Your Core?

Moore clients are educated about the importance of having a strong core ALL THE TIME!   If you're here in our clinic as a PT or Fitness client, we can teach you.  But what if you're not?  What does it REALLY mean to have a strong core?  Here is Greg Besson, MSPT, a Physical Therapist and Partner at Moore as he explains the core:

Q:  What makes up the core?

A:  The core consists of the whole trunk from the shoulders to the hips and glutes. It is considered the foundation, the "pillar" of all movement. Your arms and legs need a strong foundation from which to move.

The Domino Effect

Regular exercise makes it easier to eat healthy. Just as healthy eating makes you more likely to exercise.

It's the domino effect. When you begin to make a positive change in one area of your life other areas will soon follow.

Remember, while nutrition is vitally important to reach your goals, true results are achieved through a combination of both nutrition and challenging, progressive exercise.

Quinoa Breakfast Bowl

You've probably heard of quinoa - it is hailed by some as the new super food. It's high in protein (12%-18%) and contains a balanced set of essential amino acids - this means it's a surprisingly complete protein. It's also high in fiber and iron. And, as if the edible seeds didn't have enough going for them, NASA is thinking about growing it in space.

Quinoa is quite possibly the perfect thing to have for breakfast to start your day off on the right foot.
Servings: 1

Here's what you need:

  • 1/2 cup quinoa, cooked in water according to instructions on package
  • 1 Tablespoon golden raisins
  • 1 Tablespoon date pieces, chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon pecan pieces, chopped
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • Dash of nutmeg
  • Drizzle of pure maple syrup

1. Top cooked quinoa with raisins, date pieces, pecan pieces, cinnamon, nutmeg and a drizzle of maple syrup.

Nutritional Analysis: One serving equals: 344 calories, 5g fat, 59g carbohydrate, 6g fiber, and 12g protein.

Client Testimonials

"Like any profession, there are good care providers and bad ones...Bob Moore and the Moore Center are 'best in class'.  When I was injured 5 weeks before the NYC Marathon, my orthopedic surgeon said I would not be running in this years event. Bob and his team went above and beyond any treatment that I had previously experienced with other providers. Bob's care, skill, knowledge and tenacity got me to the starting line and through to the finish line as well. Simply put, the Moore Center is the highest standard of physical therapy!"
