ADAMH Funds Pilot Faith Summer Camps for Youth
Over the past three years, as a part of the ADAMH Faith-Based Outreach Initiative, ADAMH met with faith leaders to learn more about their experiences addressing behavioral health issues within their congregations and community. In these meetings faith leaders shared that youth are exposed to numerous issues including: alcohol and other drug use, domestic and family violence, and peer pressure to use drugs.
Recognizing the issues in the community, on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, the ADAMH Board of Trustees approved an action that will allocate funding to Community for New Directions to host day camps for high-risk youth this summer at local faith-based organizations.
