Recipe: My Sinful Valentine
Looking for a way to indulge your sugar this month of hearts and flowers? This confection-in-a-cup is a surefire way to impress their sweet tooth (et al).

Ingredients
Directions
  1. Combine sauces and syrups together in serving mug.
  2. Pull shots, add it to the saucy mixture (!) and mix well.
  3. Pour some of the steamed milk and stir to incorporate it with the sauces & espresso, then fill with remaining steamed milk.
  4. Attempt to make a latte art heart while doing so (of course). It may end up looking like a peach, but just roll with it.

SCG's Refurbishment Center Upgrade

While we have been offering refurbished machines for sometime, we recently upgraded and expanded our refurbishing center, as well as brought on two dedicated techs who focus solely on refurbishing espresso machines.

Historically, we concentrated on Saeco machines, and while they will still be a large part of the refurbished machines we have available, we are going to be working on a batch of Francis Francis refurbs soon. Interested in what a Certified Refurbished machine is? Learn more here.

Ask the Experts
Q. Is it okay to store my coffee beans in the freezer? Will that keep them fresh?

A. We have been testing all types of storage methods over the past few months to see if any of them stand up over time. In our latest test, we stored 2 lbs. of freshly roasted Velton's Bonsai Blend in the freezer for a few months, let them defrost overnight and then tested them.

When we first opened the bag, we were surprised that there was a rich coffee smell -- the aromatics had only diminished somewhat ... so, honestly, we had hope!

We ground them at the same grind/tamp that we had dialed in a fresh bag (similar to our other tests) and then pulled a shot. The results were, unfortunately, unpalatable. The shots came out too quickly and no amount of dialing in the grind would save it.

You can watch us compare the two different bags (one completely sealed, the other opened and then sealed with the tab) in this video. Ijole!
