This is a quick FYI letter for all of our clients who hold any sort of business policy with our agency.
Recently the PA legislature addressed the issue of "sub-contractors" versus "employees" by actually defining in the law what is a true sub-contractor. The law is called HB400 and it goes into effect early next year. I'm enclosing a summary of the law for your consideration
If your current business operation uses a person or persons who no longer qualify as a sub-contractor, you may want to amend your business operation. If you have a Workers Comp policy in effect, you may want to amend the estimated payroll to account for your newly defined employee. If you do not carry Workers Comp and you still use a person or persons who are now considered employees, you may want to contact us for a policy quote. |
