What's your policy?  Liberty Mutual's Responsibility Project

When Liberty Mutual launched a new television commercial in 2006, no one could have predicted the outcome. The spot, which showed one good deed triggering a chain of good deeds, "seemed to strike a chord," according to Ted Kelly, Liberty Mutual chairman, president and CEO. "We had a remarkable response-thousands of emails from churches, schools and social groups."

The result? Liberty Mutual's Responsibility Project-- a dynamic online community that encourages people to think, talk and debate about what responsibility means to them. Visit www.responsibilityproject.com and check out the many ways that you can get involved:

  • Watch short films by world-class filmmakers. For example, Steph Green's "Transit" follows a man who grapples with a dilemma when he comes face-to-face with a thief on a public bus.
  • Join the blog discussion. Kathy McManus, an award-winning journalist for CBS and ABC, writes frequent entries about ethical and moral issues that provoke you to respond.
  • Create a profile. Save your favorite short films and blog posts, and share your own stories about responsibility.
  • Take a stand. In the "What's Your Policy?" section, define what responsibility means to you from different points of view, such as parent, friend, mentor or colleague.
  • Recommend resources. Suggest books, movies, and Web sites that deal with issues of responsibility, and get suggestions from others as well.
  • Offer feedback: Liberty Mutual welcomes your comments about the Responsibility Project Web site.
