Nancy Pipal's Style File: Phenominal fall fashions this year!
August
2010

Dear Readers,

My September Vogue just arrived . . . all three and a half pounds [I actually weighed it] and 726 pages.  We needed a cart to get it up to my office.  Seriously.
On the chance that you don't have time to leisurely peruse it's contents, allow me to give you the gist.  The clothes this fall are beautiful, classic and " loaded with style", as my sainted mother used to say.  There are cute sensible shoes [I kid you not], lots of soft neutrals mixed with animal prints and stunning autumn colors, and at the very top of everybody's trend  must have list? The Military Look.
All in all, from this consultant's point of view, the new fall season is a dream come true.

Dream along with me and let's all "Make the most of wearing times". [Kenneth Cole, designer.]

The Military look is all about the details . . .  buttons, belts, epaulets, and pockets. The look is modern.

The 50's
Thank you, Madmen! We love the show and we love the clothes even more.
thank you, Madmen!
longer skirts and smaller bags
Skirts are now EXACTLY the right length. The hem hits at the crook of the knee, showing off the complete curve of the calf and hiding our not so pretty knees! This summer, the skirts were so short, they were dangerously close to showing the all good china. [A great line by Peach on this season's Project Runway.] And we are seeing purses that are truly "handbags" as opposed to shoulder wrenching suitcases. It's all about proportion. And just like the new skirt lengths, the it bag is perfect.

Colors
The classic neutrals we always love, grey and camel, are now trendy!
The twist? Wearing them in combination rather than separately.
Light grey with camel, charcoal with tan, and ivory with black seem to dominate the color combo scene.
Deep, rich,  jewel tone colors of winter red, cobalt blue and royal purple are again on trend for tops, preferably in camp shirt styles, which give that cool military vibe.
As for the hottest color this year? Army green. Wearer beware! On some it creates a death like pallor upon the skin. How lovely! Try a flattering colored scarf or collared shirt with it, and you should be A-OK.

Above all this fall, have some fun. Wear a Fedora hat! [I am definitely getting one for myself! Even if I don't end up actually wearing it? I will get a kick out of looking at it in my closet.] Pick up an animal print belt, or a pair of these great oxford shoes.
Crank it up a notch and think "style, baby, style"!

Best regards,

animal print coat

Animal prints.... A little goes a very long way. A lot looks trashy. A tasteful touch looks trendy.
Make like Goldilocks and find the look that's "just right".

Is this coat too much?
Not if it's real!
