Hi Soul Flow Yogis,
"Try Yoga" was on a life list I made when I graduated from Clemson. Ironically, it was written on a road trip to Chicago (I-40) with some friends, for a job I didn't get. So, I came back to my air mattress in Clemson eager to start my life's to do list. Bought a yoga deck of cards and did each pose, one card at a time in my spaciously sparse room on the carpet. A little over ten years later, it has altered my entire life.
Things came full circle as we were driving back from Nashville (I-40) after completing our 500 hour certification. "Westerners view change within 10 minutes. Easterners view change within 10 years." Looking back on the last decade, a mix of the beautifully, awkward transformation of life in your 20s, the practice of yoga, experiences through people, places, events, it was a bit overwhelming.
I guess my point in all the rambling is that everyone reading this is a part of an amazing revolution called yoga. It can be something you show up to and leave but ultimately, subtley, it will change your life.
If you can take the guiding principles (eight limbs) of this practice (the six branches), become more familiar with yourself as a result and in turn encourage someone else to do the same, this world can't help but be transformed into a more open, accepting, peaceful place!
This is Yoga:
"Do not ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself instead what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." Harold Whitman
