Hi Soul Flow Yogis,
"It is in community with others that the web of loving support is created."
Quite serendipitously over the last month of my life the theme of community is ever present. While studying community development in the Dominican Republic, where people in this third world country, on a superficial level, have nothing, yet in soul filled amazement witnessed how it is the third happiest country in the world. Filling from the inside out.
There were a few moments of independent travel, where my thought was, "God, this is in your hands." However, through those brief instances, my faith in humanity was restored. Paying for the 'bus' with limes when no money was available, smiling faces and laughter in the midst of stormy, choppy water across open sea, animals along side humans at every turn, a closeness with nature present in daily life, food, activities, etc., and just a human spirit that seems natural there. I can't describe the sensation I felt when being engulfed into this community with open arms, warmth and generosity.
With this feeling of wholeness and oneness (Om), all things that yoga represents, I encourage everyone to come out and support the Yoga Community in Spartanburg on Tuesday, June 21st! Bring awareness to all the good that can come from yoga and people working together with open hearts and open minds.
Namaste,

Soul Flow's Community Garden!
| | Carrots, Lavendar, Lettuce... |
Come by and see the garden! Volunteer: Stop by and water the garden. Just move the ring to the day you watered so we won't duplicate. It's a bit Zen. Turn the rain barrel on and give it time. Come with patience. |

Pose of the Month
Utkatasana
(Chair Pose)

Stand in Tadasana. Inhale and raise your arms perpendicular to the floor. Either keep the arms parallel, palms facing inward, or join the palms.
2. Exhale and bend your knees, trying to take the thighs as nearly parallel to the floor as possible. The knees will project out over the feet, and the torso will lean slightly forward over the thighs until the front torso forms approximately a right angle with the tops of the thighs. Keep the inner thighs parallel to each other and press the heads of the thigh bones down toward the heels.
3. Firm your shoulder blades against the back. Take your tailbone down toward the floor and in toward your pubis to keep the lower back long.
4. Stay for 30 seconds to a minute. To come out of this pose straighten your knees with an inhalation, lifting strongly through the arms. Exhale and release your arms to your sides into Tadasana.
