Greetings!
Happy Fourth of July!
If I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 1 Cor. 13:2b
The Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to all believers. His gift of grace enables them to share God's goodness with others. True to the Concentric Pattern, these gifts have a core. They flow out of love. Unselfish compassion is at the heart of the gifts. Therefore, if you remove the core, they become "heartless" or empty. That's why Paul began the Love Chapter with this principle. Even if you can work impressive miracles, such as moving a mountain, it means nothing if you're not motivated by love.
Love is the starting point for these spiritual gifts. Yet I have witnessed large numbers of believers, all around the world, who do things backwards. Instead of focusing on love, they seek the end results. Healings of the body are so exciting! They stimulate your faith. Miracles are much more thrilling than a routine walk with Christ. Messages in unknown tongues, words of prophecy, living an austere lifestyle -- all these pretend to be symbols of a profound faith. But they're not. They may be empty displays of zeal.
The only way to truly seek the benefit of spiritual gifts is to start with the source. When we love others as Christ intended, then our gifts take on meaning. Their purpose is to bless those with whom we worship, work, and live.
Today, don't seek the miraculous. Seek love. Let God's grace flow through you. He'll take care of the rest. If He gives you astonishing results, it's only for His glory. If He chooses to grant more commonplace effects, it's still for His praise.

Happy 60th Anniversary!
We don't always highlight birthdays or anniversaries, but we thought that 60 years together is quite an accomplishment. So, blessings to Bill & Jean Hagler as they celebrate 60 years together on July 5th.

Summer Sports Camp
Sports Camp 2012 is in the books and we want you to know that we had 104 children registered this year with our elementary kids involved in soccer, basketball, and cheer-leading and our preschoolers doing what only preschoolers do. Over 30 kids made some type of spiritual decision during the week and leaders from their respective churches will be following up with them. Steve & Laura and some of our youth served as coaches. A special thanks goes out to Coach Brice, Nurse Cecile and everyone else who helped register kids, take them on bathroom breaks, prepared snacks and anything else that was asked. We also say a special thanks to all the kids and their parents for making sports camp a huge success. We ask God's blessing on the Uncharted Waters team that made a big impact on our children during the week.

Our youth are in San Diego this week on their summer mission trip. Please take a moment to pray for them as they work with inner city children and other ministries during this important week in our summer youth program. And don't forget Disney in August. |

Family Camp at Mt Hermon
Mt. Hermon is a beautiful setting where you can meet God while stretching your soul in his beautiful creation. The people and programs are ready to be God's blessing to you.
Every person I've spoken with who has attended Family Camp at Mt. Hermon has had a wonderful time with God and others. Each detail is a blessing - the location, speakers, music, children's activities, and the pancake breakfast outdoors on the mountain ridge! That doesn't even mention the Redwood Canopy Ropes Course, archery, swimming pool, or the ice cream shop.
You'll enjoy camp whether you're single, married, have children still at home or not.
When: Labor Day Weekend, August 31 to September 3
Where: Mt. Hermon Camp, near Santa Cruz
Cost: Depends on housing you select from four different options. Overall cost is very reasonable for the room, great food, and wonderful activities available to you, especially when compared to a weekend road trip.
Scholarship: available by completing the form online (called "camperships")
For more info or to register, click here. Each person or family registers on its own and not as a group
Finally, please let Pastor Brice know if you have questions and that you've registered so I can be looking for you on Labor Day weekend.

Word of Encouragement
I thank my God every time I remember you.In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
